Tape Repair and Mold Cleaning
GOT MOLD? We offer VHS mold cleaning services using our VHS is Life mold cleaning machine. Even the most horrifyingly moldy tapes can be brought back to life with a proper cleaning. The machine also cleans dirt/stickiness/etc.

We charge $5/PER PASS through the mold cleaner, with the magnetic tape cleaned both front and back.

Each full pass through the mold cleaner takes 30 minutes and requires constant, attentive monitoring. It also includes cleaning the tape shell and reels so that all traces of mold and other particles are eliminated. Sometimes other things inside a tape shell need to be repaired/replaced/reattached, and we will fix all the little doohickies that need fixing while we're in there.

Tapes with only a little mold may be clean after one pass while much moldier tapes may take 2, 3, or 4 passes.

Please reach out if you want us to clean your moldy tapes, but keep in mind there is no guarantee that the conditions that formed mold did not also damage the tape in some other way.

Mold Cleaning Before and After. This tape took 4 passes to clean.

Tape with a snapped lead. Easily repaired.

We carefully align the edges and apply a special adhesive designed for magnetic tape.

Voilà!

Tape with a broken guard panel. We have a wide collection of spare VHS parts that can replace broken components.
